China Goakao 2024 Exam is one of the most challenging exams in the world, necessary for candidates who wish to pursue undergraduate courses in China.

The Students in their third & final year of high school take the Gaokao (高考). The Dates usually fall from June 7 to June 8 or 9. It lasts about 09 hours over two to three days (depending on the province).

Less than 0.25% of students get the qualifying score for admission to some of China’s most elite colleges. In fact, due to the exam’s difficulty, some European and American universities have started accepting Gaokao marks.

What is Gaokao?

China Goakao is the Unified National College Entrance Examination (NCEE) held annually in China. It is often referred to as the Chinese version of the US SAT and UK A-level tests. We know that Gaokao is the standard entrance exam for all students applying for higher education in China. This includes universities, colleges, and colleges.

The National University Entrance Examination, introduced in 1952, reformed the newly established National Entrance Examination Policy (NMTP) of the People’s Republic of China. Since its founding in 1977, approximately 5.7 million students have enrolled.

The influx of international students to China has boosted the NCEE acceptance rate to 79.53%. This means that if you pass the NCEE, you can enter Chinese universities such as Wuhan, Tsinghua, ECNU, Hong Kong University, Beijing, Central South University, Nanjing, etc.

Education context: 

  • Nine years of mandatory education, Opening at 6 years of age. Generally, this is divided into 6 years of elementary & three years of junior high school.
  • All candidates take the Zhongkao exam, a summative assessment of the mandatory phase of education, and the entrance exam for senior high school.
  • Candidates at senior high schools generally choose to specialize in either a science or art route for their final 2 years.
  • At the end of senior high school, study candidates wishing to go on to higher education will take the Gaokao, the entrance exam to universities.
